A rare Movado Bi-compax chronograph, a time-piece of immense technical and historical appeal, originally destined for the US market. This specific example belongs to the refined 'Pre-M90' production era. Before introducing its own in-house calibers in 1938, Movado selected the finest movements on the market for its top-of-the-line chronographs. Indeed, this watch is powered by a prestigious Valjoux VZ, an intermediate movement between the 13 and 23. Hailing from the golden age of watchmaking (the 1930s to early 1940s), this piece stands as a testament to the brand's excellence prior to transitioning to the M90 and M95 calibers, making it a rare and highly captivating piece of horological history.

This Movado Bi-compax Valjoux VZ features a 33 mm case (excluding the original crown) made of Staybrite stainless steel, stamped internally with "Movado Factories". The watch is powered by a Valjoux VZ manual-winding caliber with a column-wheel chronograph mechanism, featuring 17 jewels, a power reserve of approximately 40 hours, and the "MXI" import code stamped on the mainplate, which was the historical US import code for Movado. The original dial showcases a stunning, even patina and beautifully preserved hands. The timepiece was fully serviced on March 30, 2026, by a specialized watchmaker, and comes fitted with a brand-new blue leather strap that creates a perfect contrast with the brilliant Staybrite steel while mirroring the blue tones of the hands to enhance the overall color harmony of the dial.
